Aminiel “Ammy” Nnko is the Director of Nnko & Smith, Safaris in Maji ya Chai, Tanzania. Ammy was born and raised in the Mt. Meru region near Arusha, Tanzania. After obtaining a degree in wildlife studies, he apprenticed under famed safari guide and ornithologist Paul Oliver in Tarangire National Park. Aminiel’s first job was to assist Mr. Oliver in a comprehensive survey of Tarangire’s bird species. Together they spent many days exploring the park on foot, stepping around lions, leopards, elephants, and cape buffalo. Ammy moved on to become a camp manager and then a full-time wildlife guide. Ammy’s expertise includes wildlife guiding, wildlife behavior, birding, camp management and wilderness emergency response. He has over 20 years of experience in wildlife guiding and safari management.
